How incredible of a feeling is it to finally put all those thoughts, feelings, and emotions you had placed on that piece of paper into a song or a score? Even better is when you get a chance to see other people listen to your work, appreciate it, and connect to it on a level that transcends spoken language. It's absolutely amazing. I firmly believe that music is the greatest form of universal communication. Instead of spoken words that tend to get tangled, misread, and taken out of context, music sends pure emotions, pure vibes, and creates an undeniable aura to the listener. Sometimes even taking the listener out of their current reality.
When I was a child, I had received my first cassette recorder (an old radio shack recorder with a built in microphone and speaker) and would record the audio of all my favorite movies. I would close my eyes and reimagine the film for myself, just basing everything from the sound and the dialogue. Fast forward to my early teens, I had received my first guitar. I ripped that guitar apart. I learned everything I could from Soundgarden to Dave Matthews to Pantera, and the list goes on... Anyways, a few years later, I found myself playing lead guitar in the school band, and owning my first TASCAM 4 track "Home Studio", a Casio keyboard and a Zoom drum machine. This would be the beginning of my "band in a box" recording studio.
In roughly 2004, I would go on to form a band with a few close high school buddies called "LevelSIx". This band would quickly gain local notoriety, and would go on to record with legendary producer Sylvia Massy (Tool, System of a Down, Johnny Cash), and would also go on to perform shows with many national acts, as well as tour with the legendary artist Peter Steele (of Type O Negative) and his act Carnivore. This band would lead to some of the best shows and experiences I could have ever had the privilege of performing and sharing. This would also lead to another group called "Zero Frequency" in which I would play the role as singer/guitarist/songwriter. After involvement with many more musical groups is NYC, I had decided to take steps toward moving forward in my musical career, and pursuing further education toward working in TV & Film music production.
